Debris Burning Still Prohibited, Sept. 16

Coos Forest Protective Association (CFPA) reminds the public that debris burning, even with a burn barrel is still prohibited. We have received some early fall rains that have lowered our fire danger level. Escaped debris burns are our leading cause of wildfires in the fall. If you live within the city limits contact your local fire department to find out current restrictions for burning inside the city limits. Debris burns this time of year escape because people don’t realize how quickly grass and other fine fuels can dry out, or they burn before and during wind events. Fire season will remain in effect until conditions minimize the risk of fire.  For more information on fire restrictions and prevention you can find CFPA on the web at www.coosfpa.net, call the closure line at (541) 267-1789, or follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
