ODOT bridge crews will be working on the deck of the US 101: Siuslaw River Bridge in Florence, creating a single lane restriction during daytime hours for three days. Beginning Monday, March 10 and continuing through Wednesday, March 12, travel across the bridge will be restricted to a single lane between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. The lane restriction is necessary to allow a snooper crane to occupy one lane of travel. A snooper crane is a large piece of equipment that allows workers to safely access areas at deck level and beneath the bridge. During construction, flaggers will control traffic across the bridge in alternating directions. Motorists should anticipate delays of 5 to 20 minutes. In addition, ODOT will place observers a half-mile north and south of the construction zone to monitor traffic to insure that long queues of vehicles don’t develop and that longer than anticipated delays don’t occur.
