News release from the Coos Co. Sheriff’s Office. The Coos County Sheriff’s Office would like to announce that a date, time and location has been selected for services for Deputy Gil Datan. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Sunday, April 26th, 2015 at 3:30 PM at the North Bend High School, 2323 Pacific Street, North Bend, Oregon. A reception for family, friends and local Law Enforcement officer will be held after the Service. The location for the reception and information on the procession prior to the service will be announced Thursday. Earlier news release on Wednesday, April 22. On the afternoon of April 20th, 2015 the Coos County Sheriff’s Office lost one of its own with the Line of Duty Death of Deputy Gil Datan. The Coos County Sheriff’s Office is being assisted by the Oregon Fallen Badge Foundation in preparing services for Deputy Datan. Law Enforcement Officers from agencies around the state and private citizens that form the Foundation have established an Incident Command Center at the Coos County Courthouse in Coquille and will be working with Deputy Datan’s family and the Coos County Sheriff’s Office in establishing a venue and funeral service for the fallen officer. An account has been established to take donations for the family. As more information is developed it will be released through the Coos County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer.
