DEQ fines U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service $21,600, March 4

The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) fined the U.S. Department of the Interior Fish and Wildlife Service $21,600 for water quality violations at Eagle Creek National Fish Hatchery at 34288 S.E. Rainbow Road in Estacada. DEQ issued the penalty because between Jan. 1, 2011 and Aug. 3, 2014 the water leaving the hatchery and entering Eagle Creek was warmer than allowed by its permit on approximately 200 days.  Additionally, the hatchery failed to perform required monitoring of the effluent for temp erature and or flow on approximately 1,100 days during the same time period.
