DEQ Honors Star of Hope, June 30

Oregon Department of Environmental  Quality (DEQ) Program has recently awarded Star of Hope, a non-profit organization in Coos County serving adults who experience intellectual and developmental disabilities, a grant of $10,000.00. Star of Hope will use this grant money to purchase recycling containers for redeemable beverage containers. The bins are to be placed at public gathering places such as; beaches, campgrounds, boardwalks and parks and will be serviced by the Star of Hope. The Department of Environmental Quality Program Mission “seeks to be a leader in restoring, maintaining and enhancing the quality of Oregon’s air, land and water” and Star of Hope shares this vision. The project goal is to expand opportunities for individuals diagnosed with intellectual and developmental disabilities enrolled in Star of Hope services. Star of Hope embraces and embodies the principle that all people are unique and have skills and talents to contribute to society.  Further, no individual’s dreams or aspirations should be limited by preconceived notions or predetermined pathways.
