The walkway on the Coos Bay dike is open to foot traffic once again. The path, which borders the estuary in the upper bay, was closed last December due to erosion that threatened about 800-feet of the popular walkway. The City of Coos Bay, which has a joint partnership in the levee with the Port of Coos Bay, stepped forward and instigated repairs through the city’s Urban Renewal Agency. The agreement with the Port allows for full reimbursement at a future date when funds are available to the Port. The repairs cost a little more than $90,000.
