DINT Arrest Douglas Co., Feb. 4

In the evening hours of Tuesday, February 2nd, 2021, the Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team (DINT) arrested two individuals involved in local and interstate drug trafficking crimes. DINT detectives and deputies from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle on Coos Bay Wagon Road near Reston Road, in rural Douglas County. A search of the vehicle revealed approximately 2 pounds of cocaine and a loaded firearm.  DINT followed up a short time later with a search warrant for a residence in the 1900 block of Dairy Loop Road. A search of that residence revealed a large amount of illegal controlled substances and other drug paraphernalia. In total, detectives seized approximately 13 pounds of suspected cocaine and approximately 4 pounds of suspected methamphetamine. Detectives arrested 59 year old David Zoeter of Lookingglass, Oregon, and 46 year old Eric Gonzalez-Velez of Desert Hot Springs, California. Zoeter has been charged with Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine and Unlawful Delivery of Methamphetamine. Gonzalez-Velez has been charged with Unlawful Possession of Cocaine, and Unlawful Delivery of Cocaine. Both have been lodged in the Douglas County Jail.
The investigation is continuing and more charges are sure to follow.
