Disorderly Conduct, Feb. 19

News release from Newport PD. Newport Police Officers were dispatched to a report of a subject with a gun in the parking lot of Subway Restaurant. The subject reportedly had his finger on the trigger, and was waving the gun around in the air. As Officers were responding to the area, an employee of TCB Security, who happened to be in the area, advised that a vehicle associated with the armed suspect had left Subway, headed north on Hwy 101, and pulled into the Fred Meyer parking lot. The TCB security officer followed the vehicle, and directed Officers to its location at the northeast corner of the lot. As Officers arrived, they were advised the suspect with the gun had walked into Fred Meyer. Three subjects were detained at the vehicle while officers from the Newport Police Department and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office searched inside Fred Meyer. A Lincoln County Parole and Probation Officer advised they had located a subject matching the description walking north on Hwy 101 in front of Safeway. Police Officers detained Jeffrey Owen Stamps, age 21 of Newport, and discovered a replica semi-auto 1911 handgun tucked in his waistband. Stamps was arrested for Disorderly Conduct in the 2nd Degree. He was lodged in the Lincoln County with bail set at $10,000.00.
