News release from the Coos Co. Sheriff’s Office. On September 18, 2015, at about 2105 hours, a Coos County Sheriff’s Deputy, assigned to work DUII overtime patrol during the Bay Area Fun Festival, was stopped at the crosswalk located at 9th and Central in Coos Bay waiting for a female pedestrian walking through the crosswalk. While stopped, the Deputy observed the female pedestrian walk up to another vehicle in the oncoming lane of travel and confront the driver of that vehicle followed by striking that vehicle. The Deputy attempted to call the woman over and she refused to stop, or comply with the Deputy’s commands. The woman was later identified as 42 year old North Bend resident, Deanna Solinger. When the Deputy attempted to place Solinger under arrest for the observed crime of Disorderly Conduct II, Solinger fought against the Deputy’s efforts to arrest her. Solinger proceeded to kick the back of the Deputy’s patrol vehicle and when the Deputy tried to prevent her from damaging herself or the vehicle, Solinger kicked the Deputy in the chest and made other attempts to kick him otherwise. The Deputy was uninjured. Solinger was arrested and transported to the Coos County Jail for Disorderly Conduct II, Resisting Arrest and Attempted Assault on a Public Safety Officer. The Coos County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Coos Bay Police Department.
