The Governing Board of the Oregon Department of Geology and Mineral Industries (DOGAMI) will meet from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Friday, July 24 in Bend. Among the items slated for discussion is recruitment for the position of State Geologist. The State Geologist serves as the Agency’s Executive Director. Public comment will be taken on the recruitment process, timeline and hiring standards and criteria, which will be posted at www.OregonGeology.org one week before the meeting. The DOGAMI Governing Board sets policy and oversees general operations, and adopts a strategic plan every six years to guide DOGAMI’s mission and objectives. The Board meets at least quarterly at sites around the state. As active members of their communities, Board members provide an important connection between Oregonians and DOGAMI’s mission of providing earth science information and regulation to make Oregon safe and prosperous.
