News release from the Coos Co. Sheriff’s Office. On June 12, 2016 the Coos County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from the neighbors of 71 year old Coos Bay resident, Barbara Kusserow that Barbara had been badly beaten by her son, 40 year old Tye Kusserow who lived with her. Upon arrival Deputies learned that Ms. Kusserow had been in bed in her home on McKenna Lane when her son, Tye Kusserow, who resides in the home with her, had entered her bedroom and accused her of letting someone into the home through a window. Tye Kusserow then attacked her, throwing her from her bed, and continued assaulting her while she was on the floor. Deputies were able to locate and take Tye Kusserow into custody without incident and he was transported and lodged at the Coos County Jail on charges of Assault in the First Degree (Domestic), an A felony with a bail amount of $500,000.00. According to a witness the assault may have occurred for over an hour before Barbara was able to slip away.
