On Wednesday, August 23, 2017, at 1:30 am, a Sheriff’s Deputy observed a 1993 Ford Escort leaving the Purple Parrot in Green. The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle for a traffic violation at which point the driver accelerated down Roberts Creek Road. The driver led deputies on a pursuit down Roberts Creek Road and onto Glengary Road. The driver turned off his headlights at one point and attempted to make a turn into a driveway in the 1100-block of Glengary, but missed the driveway. The driver then came to a stop in the roadway and fled on foot from the vehicle down a gravel driveway. The deputy captured the male after a short foot pursuit. The driver was identified as 31 year-old Daniel John Cox of Roseburg. Cox was lodged at the Douglas County Jail on the following charges: Attempt to Elude Police-Vehicle (Felony), Attempt to Elude Police-Foot (Misdemeanor), Reckless Driving (Misdemeanor), Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine (Felony), and Parole Violation (Felony).
