Between May 20 and June 2, 2019, Douglas County Sheriff Deputies worked 30 hours of overtime for a high visibility seatbelt blitz with funding provided by ODOT. The emphasis area for this blitz is night time/daytime belts, and minors in open pickup beds. We also participated in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) kickoff event, Border to Border (B2B), which is a one day national seat-belt awareness event coordinated by participating State highway safety offices and their respective law enforcement liaisons. The B2B event took place on May 20th and served as a kickoff to the Click it or ticket mobilization. 58 total citations and 48 warnings. During this blitz, Deputies issued the following citations: 7 citations for speeding; 3 driving while suspended citations; 1 DUII arrest; 10 seatbelt citations; 3 arrests; 6 equipment citations; 28 “other” citations. Deputies issued the following warnings: 8 warnings for speed; 7 warnings for seatbelt; 1 warning for child restraint; 1 warning for distracted driving; 32 “other” warnings.
