Dredging Permit Modification Sought in Coos Bay, Dec. 4

The Oregon International Port of Coos Bay proposes to dredge up to 57,000 cubic yards of material annually over a three year period to maintain access to 18 deep draft docks, from Southport Lumber on the North Spit, to Georgia-Pacific in Bunker Hill, on Coos Bay. The permit application has been filed with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. “This is a supplemental public notice triggered by the permittee’s request to add a supplemental dredged material disposal location to the existing authorization.” Dredging would be carried out with a clamshell, hopper or pipeline dredge. The dredged material would be discharged at a confined upland site, or U.S. Environmental Protection Agency-approved Ocean Dredged Material Disposal Sites.
