The Coos County Board of Commissioners declared a drought emergency in Coos County Thursday during their meeting in Coquille. The declaration will be sent to Oregon Governor Kate Brown and if approved should open up relief funds for land owners, farmers and ranchers. Emergency Program Manager Michael Murphy says the county is in a drought receiving two-thirds of the normal rainfall so far this year making it one of the driest years on record.
