Drowning at Woahink Lake, June 29

Divers recovered the body of a male teenager Friday morning, June 26, at Woahink Lake south of Florence. The youth was one of five juveniles swimming on the east side of the lake Thursday evening. He didn’t resurface and help was summoned about 6 p.m. A rescue dive team responded and searched unsuccessfully for the boy. Civilian divers began a second search Friday morning and located his body. A death investigation is being conducted by the Lane Co. Sheriff’s Office.
