A routine training mission by a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter crew Monday, Aug. 6, led to the discovery of an overturned boat and a male in the water. Efforts to revive Bruce McKibbin were unsuccessful. The Florence resident was a Physical Education teacher within the Siuslaw School District and enjoyed fishing.
