Hwy. 101 & Ivy Hills Rd., CCSO release – On May 1, 2019, at approximately 11:46 AM, A Coos County Sheriff Deputy conducted a traffic stop as part of a joint operation with the South Coast Interagency Narcotics Team (SCINT) on a vehicle near the intersection of Highway 101 and Ivy Hills Road. The Deputy pulled over the vehicle for failing to maintain its lane of travel when the vehicle cross the fog line on Highway 101 driving north bound. While the Deputy was gathering information from the driver, who identified himself as 31 year old Kyle J. Connelly, a SCINT team member deployed a drug detection dog. The drug dog gave its handler a positive alert on the vehicle, indicating there were illegal drugs present. After an investigation and search of the car, the Deputy and SCINT team members found a significant amount of illegal mushrooms as well as Methamphetamine and Heroin, all of which were seized and will be sent to the Oregon State Crime lab for testing. About 516.3 grams of mushrooms were seized, which compromises as much as 344 user amounts. Subsequently, Kyle J. Connelly was arrested and transported to the Coos County Jail for possession of a controlled substance schedule one for mushrooms, possession of a controlled substance methamphetamine and possession of a controlled substance Heroin.
