SALEM, Ore. – The Oregon Department of State Lands will host a public informational meeting in Portland on Tuesday, Sept. 24 for discussions surrounding a possible proposal by Oregon State University to establish a research forest on the Elliott. Oregon State University will join DSL  to share  information about the project. In December 2018, the State Land Board directed the agency to work collaboratively with Oregon State University’s College of Forestry as it develops a plan for transforming the Elliott State Forest into a world-class research forest. The Land Board anticipates hearing the OSU proposal at its regular meeting in December (Salem). Meeting date/location: Tuesday, Sept. 24, 5:30 – 7 p.m., OSU Portland Center, classroom 2047, Located in the Meier & Frank Building (second floor), 555 SW Morrison St., Portland (Parking nearby in Alder Street Parking Garage). The meeting will kick off with brief presentations by DSL and by OSU on topics including the history of the Elliott, what a research forest might look like, and the status of the current planning process. It will also include an opportunity for the public to speak with DSL and OSU representatives.
