Duck women’s soccer, Aug. 23

The Oregon women’s soccer team closed out the trip to Hawaii with a 2-1 win over Gonzaga on Sunday afternoon at the Waipi’o Peninsula Soccer Stadium. With the win, the Ducks move to 1-0-1 on the 2016 season. How it Happened: In the third minute of the game, freshman Lydiatt scored the first goal of her collegiate season off an assist from Everett. In the 26th minute, sophomore Kyra Fawcett scored her second goal of the weekend to put the Ducks up 2-0 before half. Gonzaga would respond in the 58th minute and scored off a header goal. The Bulldogs weren’t able to capitalize off their attempts throughout the remainder of the game however, giving the Ducks the win. On the night, the Ducks tallied twelve shots to Gonzaga’s 10 and Oregon was able to earn four corner kicks opportunities. The Ducks will open the regular-season schedule at home as the team hosts Nebraska this Friday, Aug. 26 at 4:30 p.m. and Stephen F. Austin on Aug. 28 at 5:00 p.m. Friday night’s game will be broadcasted on the Pac-12 Network and there will be a live stream for Sunday’s match.
