For the 11th time in the last 12 years Oregon will open the year ranked in the Associated Press Top 25. The Ducks came in at No. 11 in the preseason AP Poll released on Monday morning. The No. 11 AP ranking is Oregon’s highest to open a season since 2015, while the Ducks are 12-2 all-time in season openers when ranked. Oregon came in at No. 13 in the preseason Amway Coaches Poll that was unveiled on Aug. 1.
For the first time since 2011, the Ducks will open the season against a ranked opponent when they face No. 16 Auburn in the 2019 AdvoCare Classic at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Kickoff is slated for 4:30 p.m. to open ABC Saturday Night Football’s 14th season while the matchup will also be featured on ESPN’s College GameDay. Auburn is one of four opponents on Oregon’s schedule in the preseason AP Poll. Three of the four games are on the road or at a neutral site.
