CCSO release – On September 8, 2021, at about 4:50 PM, Deputies were dispatched to Bastendorff Beach for a disturbance involving two males fighting. Upon the Deputies’ arrival, the Deputies spoke with several intoxicated males, including 30 year old Mr. Brandon M. Haleswatkins. Though the males had been fighting, all parties involved would not tell the Deputies what had occurred during the altercation. Prior to the Deputies leaving the scene, the Deputies advised Brandon of the consequences of driving while intoxicated with a child in the vehicle, due to Brandon having his son with him and being very intoxicated. At about 1749 hours, a Deputy observed Mr. Brandon M. Haleswatkins driving north on Cape Arago Highway near Pigeon Point Loop in the same vehicle. The Deputy initiated a traffic stop and made contact with Brandon, who also had his son in the vehicle with him. Upon investigation, Brandon was placed under arrest for DUII and Endangering the Welfare of Another Person. At the Coos Bay Police Department, Brandon submitted a sample of his breath with a Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) of .16 percent. Brandon was released to a sober adult.
