News release from the Coos Co. Sheriff’s Office. On May 29, 2014 at about 2210 hours, Coos County Sheriff’s Deputies, Charleston Fire and Bay Cities Ambulance responded to a report of single motor vehicle crash on Libby Lane near mile post 1.5, west of Coos Bay. Upon arrival, First Responders found a single vehicle; a 1992 Chevy pickup truck had crashed into a tree causing it to fall over into the traffic lanes. Coos County Road Department was called out to remove the tree. Police contacted 23 year old KC George of Coos Bay and 23 year old Brittany Bethea of Medford Oregon at the vehicle. Both were transported to Bay Area Hospital for injuries sustained in the accident. As a result of the investigation it was learned that Mr. George was the operator of the vehicle and was traveling on Libby Lane towards Charleston at a high rate of speed and lost control of the pickup truck and into the tree. KC George was arrested for DUII, Reckless Endangering and Reckless Driving. Mr. George was transported to the Coos County Jail and booked.
