DUII by the Numbers in Coos Co., Feb. 10

News release from CBPD. In January the Coos Bay Police Department arrested (5) drunk drivers as part of an ongoing effort with other local law enforcement agencies to reduce incidents of impaired driving in Coos County. The Southern Oregon Coast DUII Taskforce will continue to deploy additional police officers during the month of February with goal of seeking out and arresting those drivers who choose to drink and drive. The taskforce is supported by the Coos Bay Police Department, Coquille Police Department, Coos County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon State Police, and funded by a grant provided by Oregon Impact. The Southern Oregon Coast DUII Taskforce is asking for your help to reduce drunk driving. If you observe a drunk driver on the road please call 911 and report it to local law enforcement. The following are some signs that a driver may be drunk. – Quick acceleration or deceleration ; – Weaving or zig-zagging across the road; – Almost striking an object, curb, or vehicle; – Stopping for no reason or erratic braking; – Driving with headlights off at night; – Drifting in and out of traffic lanes; – Driving slower than 10 MPH below the speed limit.
