News release CCSO. On 7/24/2017 Coos County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a single vehicle roll over crash at the Powers Airport. Medical crews from Powers also responded and assisted in scene management. When Deputies arrived at the location, the male driver of the truck, Justin North was found sitting inside of a vehicle operated by his mother who had already responded to the scene. Justin North refused to comply with Deputies directions to get out of his mother’s car and was forcible removed from the car and placed into handcuffs. Investigation indicates Justin Roth used a vehicle which his mother had recently purchased and while intoxicated drive through the locked gate of the airport causing damage to both the vehicle and to the gate. He then bypassed the notice of restricted entry onto the airfield where he drove the vehicle in circles on the landing strip until he eventually turned to sharp at high speed and the truck rolled over. Additionally Justin North was on probation and had a “no alcohol” clause as part of the conditions of his probation. Justin North was arrested and transported to the Coos County Jail where he refused a breath test. He was lodged and charged with several crimes to include: ORS 813.010 Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants; ORS 162.315 Resisting Arrest; ORS 164.245 Criminal Trespass II; ORS 164.354 Criminal Mischief II; ORS 137.545 Probation Violation. The truck Justin North was operating was damaged and was towed from the scene pursuant to an impound.
