DUII Accident
Lakeside, CCSO release – On January 5, 2020, at about 3:15 am, Coos County Dispatch received a report of a motor vehicle accident near the intersection of Airport Way and North 8th Street in Lakeside. Upon the Deputy’s arrival, the Deputy found a single vehicle laying on its side in the ditch on the west bound side of the roadway. The driver of the vehicle, identified as 27 year old Levi James Cross, was standing near the truck now lying on its passenger side. Emergency Medical Personnel advised the Deputy they believed Cross was intoxicated. Upon concluding the investigation for Driving Under the influence of Intoxicants, Cross was placed under arrest for DUII (Alcohol). Cross was transported to the North Bend Police Department, where he later provided a breath sample with a Blood Alcohol Content of .11%. Cross was cited for DUII (Alcohol), Failure to Maintain Lane and released to a friend.

Old Broadbent Rd., Myrtle Pt., CCSO release – On January 3, 2020, at about 6:16 PM, a Deputy from the Coos County Sheriff’s Office responded to Catching Creek Road in Myrtle Point, after receiving reports of an erratic driver in the area. Upon arriving to the area, the deputy observed a vehicle matching the description given by the complainants leaving the area. A traffic stop was conducted upon the vehicle, which was operated by 27 year old John Wayne Vermillion III, after observing the vehicle violating the Oregon Revised Statute for Failing to Drive in Lane. Upon contacting the driver, the deputy noted signs and indicators of impairment. After conducting an investigation, Vermillion was arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants. Vermillion was transported to the Coos County Jail where he provided a breath sample which showed him to have a Blood Alcohol Content of .15% by volume. Vermillion was cited for Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants and Fail to Drive in Lane and released to the jail staff.
