Oregon will be the first state to view the eclipse on Monday, Aug. 21 and Oregon State University will be among the first universities to see it. The sky will go dark for about two minutes at 10:17 a.m. PDT at the university. A team of Oregon State videographers and photographers will capture images of the eclipse and make them available to the media leading up to the event and as it happens. The images can be downloaded at https://oregonstate.box.com/v/eclipse. This will include images from several unique events happening on OSU’s Corvallis campus and on an OSU research boat on the Pacific Ocean. On both the boat and campus, scientists, as part of a NASA project, will be launching balloons as high as 120,000 to capture high-altitude images of the eclipse. The university is also hosting an eclipse watching party that is expected to draw thousands of people. It begins at 9 a.m. PDT Monday.
