The 72nd Annual East-West Shrine Football Game will be played Saturday night, 7 p.m., at Baker City. The event is a fund-raiser for the Shriner’s Children Hospital and features invited prep football players from the State’s smaller schools. Coos County has several players on the rosters. On the East Roster is Offensive Lineman Kamren Thies from 4A North Bend. Offensive Lineman Dylan Kamph of 2A Bandon and Linebacker Mitchel George from 4A Marshfield are on the East Alternate list. The West Alternate list includes: WR/DB Andreas Villanueva from 1A Myrtle Pt. On the East Cheer squad is Alyssa Bernhardt, North Bend, and Megan Bue, Coquille. The West won the 2022 game with an overtime Field Goal 17 to 14 after the game ended in regulation with a 14 to 14 tied score.
