The City of Coos Bay has contracted with Knife River Materials to perform construction services for the Safe Routes to School project which extends from Millicoma School (2nd Avenue) to the Isthmus Slough Bridge. The project improvements include storm infrastructure, sidewalks, accessibility ramps, marked crosswalks, and rapid flash crosswalk beacons. This project will greatly enhance our pedestrian access along this corridor and provide a safer method of travel for our students and the community alike. The below traffic control plan for 6th Avenue will be in place from May 4th through May 29th while the contractor constructs retaining walls on 6th Avenue between E and D Streets. Please proceed with caution while driving through the construction zone and be on the alert for construction activity. The city thanks you in advance for your cooperation and patience during the completion of this project. Any questions can be directed to Public Works, Operations Division at 541-269-8918.
