The 2017 Solar Eclipse cut a path across Oregon Tuesday morning as many visitors to the area of “Totality” ohhed and ahhed as the moon passed in front of the sun. The Bay Area was on the fringe, 93-percent coverage prediction. The day started foggy, but most of it lifted by the scheduled eclipse arrival. As the moon moved in front of the sun from the west to the east, it got darker, felt like evening was coming on and the temperature noticeably dropped. Fog then reappeared with the cooler weather, but in a few minutes the sun started to reappear on the southern edge and once again morning had broken in the Bay Area. It’s an experience many will talk about for years; however, if you slept through this celestial event, it will occur again in the U.S. in 2024, but along a different path.
