The Grand Re-Opening of the Historic Egyptian Theatre in downtown Coos Bay takes place this weekend with three days of activities celebration. The theatre was closed over structural issues, but through donations and grants, the building was restored and is now structurally sound. The Grand Opening festivities begin Friday, June 20, 5:30 p.m. with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. That will be followed with tours and then a concert by Paul Quarino on the Wurlitzer Pipe Organ. A silent movie festival will follow at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, June 21, free tours, popcorn and live music on stage from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Lee Littlefield has a concert on the Wurlitzer Pipe Organ at 7 p.m., followed by a 25-cent movie, “It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad World.” On Sunday, June 22, Lee Littlefield concert on the Wurlitzer Pipe Organ at 12:30 p.m., followed by a matinee film, “1776”.
