According to the Coos Co. Elections Dept., 11,843 mail in ballots were cast for Tuesday’s Special District Election. Most positions were uncontested, except in the Coos County Area Transportation District. Rod Taylor won Position 1 with 52.92% of the vote; Tara R. Johnson won the three-person race for Position 6 with 38.89%. For Southwestern Oregon Community College Position 7 Maria Sudduth with 52.96%, and for South Coast Education Service District Position 7, Marie Simonds with 59.64%. Coos Bay School District Position 1, Arnie Roblan with 58.63%. Adrian DeLeon for Position 5 58.82% and Diane Johnson Position 6 with 54.09%. North Bend School District Position 2 Mary Schilling 42.54%; Position 5 Jim Jordan with 55.95%, Position 6 Julie Thies 51.67%. Bay Area Health District Position 3 Carma Erickson-Hurt 55.62%, Position 4 Barbara N. Taylor 54.54% and Position 5 Donna Rabin 63.05%. Question on the ballot for North Bend residents regarding the operation of the Municipal Pool 5-year levy, Yes vote wins with 55.17%.
