The City of Coos Bay has started its Empire Blvd. Improvement Project. According to the City’s weekly newsletter, The Oregon Department of Transportation awarded the construction contract for the Empire Boulevard improvement project to LaDuke Construction out of Talent, Oregon. The project will extend from Newmark Street southerly to Wisconsin Avenue. The improvement includes the partial realignment of Empire Boulevard, road widening, the addition of bicycle lanes, curb, sidewalk, street lighting, drainage control facilities, a bus stop shelter, and vehicle pull off/parking areas. The contractor is starting to mobilize personnel and equipment for the project. Over the next few weeks, you will start to see pre-construction survey activity, saw cutting of asphalt, some clearing and grubbing, placement of traffic control signage, and commencement of drainage control facilities. The entire project will be completed in October.
