CBFD release – April 12, 2024 – Coos Bay Fire Department was dispatched to a house fire in the Empire District of Coos Bay a little after midnight. Arriving on scene, firefighters found smoke coming from the house and began to make entry to extinguish the fire. Firefighters were able to quickly knockdown the main area of fire involvement, and remained on scene for another hour to investigate the cause. The cause of the fire is from a faulty in wall electrical heater located in the hallway of the house. The estimated loss to the building is around $50,000, and $20,000 for contents. The occupant does not have insurance. Coos Bay Fire Department would like to remind its citizens that they offer a free smoke alarm installation program.
