CBPD release – On July 15th at approximately 8:03 am the Coos Bay Police Department responded to a report of graffiti in the Empire area of Coos Bay. The graffiti was located on a privately owned fence, and was reported to the police by a neighbor, as well as, the property owner. Several additional calls from citizens were received by the Coos Bay Police Department dispatch center reporting the graffiti. The graffiti contained offensive language toward an individual and displayed an offensive symbol. A Coos Bay Police Officer arrived on scene at approximately 8:14 am and made contact with the property owner. The property owner was already in the process of retrieving material, such as paint and brushes to remove the graffiti. As the property owners were preparing to remove the graffiti several other citizens arrived at the location with intent to remove the graffiti themselves. The property owners were able to quickly remove the graffiti and covered within approximately two hours of the original report. At this time, no suspect has been identified. However, it has been determined that this crime occurred something during the night after 11:00pm on July 14, 2020. The Coos Bay Police Department is taking these crimes seriously.
