News release from Coos Co. District Attorney R. Paul Frasier, Saturday, June 27. At approximately 1:14 AM this morning, the Coos Bay 911 Center received a phone call reporting that a body had been located on the tidal mud flat of Coos Bay just to the west of the Empire Waste Water Treatment Center. Police responded to the scene. Located at the scene was the body of white male adult. It is apparent that the person had been the victim of homicidal violence. The body has been identified but we are not releasing the identity of that person as his next of kin have not been notified of his death. Once that notification has been completed, I will release the name of the victim. The Coos County Major Crime Team was activated and officers from the Coos Bay Police Department, North Bend Police Department, Coos County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon State Police, Bandon Police Department, the Coos County Medical Examiner and the District Attorneys Office responded. Coos Bay Police is the lead agency on the case. Coos Bay Police requests that anyone who may have been in the area of the Empire Waste Water Treatment last evening and/or early this morning and who may have seen anything suspicious to call the Coos Bay Police Department. News release #2. The deceased male found near the Empire Waste Water Treatment Facility has been identified as 49 year old Forest Franklin Martin. Mr. Martin was believed to be a transient with no permanent address. Coos Bay Police continues its request that anyone who may have been in the area of the Empire Waste Water Treatment Plant last evening and/or early this morning and who may have seen anything suspicious to call the Coos Bay Police Department.
