Encouraging Dog Attack on Deputy, Feb. 7

Summary: Coos County Woman Instructs Dog to Bite Deputy During Domestic Violence Arrest. On February 5th, 2024, around 7:10 pm, Coos County Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a domestic assault at the Seaport RV Park in Charleston. It was reported that Kassandra McIntyre (30) had assaulted the victim using a weapon. Deputies Z. Smith and C. Sattler responded to investigate. When they arrived, Deputy Sattler contacted Kassandra at the back of the RV park while Deputy Smith checked for the victim. Deputy Sattler instructed Kassandra that she was being detained while the investigation was ongoing and to place her hands behind her back. Kassandra refused to listen and reached into a vehicle. Kassandra resisted Deputy Sattler’s efforts and encouraged her dog to bite him. The dog repeatedly bit Deputy Sattler, which caused physical injury. Deputy Smith and Deputy Sattler were able to subdue Kassandra without causing harm to her dog. Deputies concluded their investigation. It was discovered that Kassandra had threatened and assaulted the victim, a domestic partner, using a ‘Gaff Hook.’ Kassandra was arrested for Domestic Menacing, Attempted Assault in the 2nd Degree, Disorderly Conduct, Attempted Assault on a Peace Officer, and Resisting Arrest. Kassandra was transported to the Coos County Jail, where she was booked, processed, and remains in custody. Deputy Sattler was treated for injuries by Hospital Staff and released.
