This local news brief is brought to you by Southwest Oregon Regional Airport www.flyoth.com with air service from North Bend to San Francisco.

Good Tuesday morning.  For those who took advantage of the long Labor Day Weekend, welcome back to the grind!  Hopefully refreshed and ready to take on the last quarter of the year.  Seems way too fast.  Back to school day for some students, it is an adjustment week.  Motorists are reminded, 20 mph in a school zone.  Glad I didn’t have to travel through Reedsport this holiday.  Wow, what a frustrating experience for drivers, but a boom for local businesses as Hwy. 101 was jammed due to malfunctioning traffic lights.  Flaggers were added over the weekend to try and alleviate the problem.  No major problems reported so far on the area’s roads over the three-day weekend.  We’ll get the rest of the reports today.  September will bring us the Bay Area Fun Festival in Coos Bay and the Cranberry Festival in Bandon.  Weather forecasters are calling for some clouds today along the South Coast, highs near 70 and overnight lows in the 50s.  Winds out of the East to Northeast at first, then shifting to the North to Northwest.  National Weather Service in Portland has issued a warning about Sneaker Waves along the Coast today.  Meetings gear back up in the County.  Commissioners meet this morning in Coquille, followed by the Noxious Weed Committee and then the Fair Board.  Sport bottom fishing opens to all depths as of today.  Coos History Museum dips into the OSU Extension personnel for a talk tonight.  Oregon Hatchery Research Center Board meets up Hwy. 34 today. Want a beautiful drive in the Fall?  Take Hwy. 34 to Alsea from Waldport.  Beautiful!  Free admission this week to the Undersea Gardens in Newport.  It’s closing!   Lincoln City PD has a report on their distracted driver campaign on the Central Coast.  Police logs for Coquille show trespassing, burglary charge and an assault.  In sports, prep schedules for both MHS & NBHS.  Both schools have volleyball tonight at home.  I’ve also posted the Month of September “Coos County Cops” tabloid.  Just click on “Visit Website” below to get the rest of the stories and click on the “Publication” tab to access CCC.  It is FREE.  Feel free to share with anyone else.  Thank you, Have a great day.  Matt
