This local news brief is brought to you by Southwest Oregon Regional Airport www.flyoth.com with air service from North Bend to San Francisco.

Good Thursday morning.  More sunshine and wind today along the South Oregon Coast.  Highs near 70 and overnight lows in the mid 50s.  Mixture of clear and clouds tonight.  Winds out of the North at 10-20 mph, decreasing during the evening hours.  If you are driving through Reedsport, be prepared for a lot of road work.  Actually started last night and will continue through tonight.  On top of that, ODOT now reports a log truck hit the Umpqua River Bridge.  That has happened before.  Signs have been reportedly posted.  Anglers have been keeping an eye on what is happening around the state/region.  Fishery officials have already cut back or reduced seasons on the Columbia and Snake rivers.  Pack up the kids and head to the North Bend Library tonight for some free pancakes and stories.  Should be fun!  Living wage opportunities on display at Canyonville today for many Southern Oregon students looking at futures.  Maintaining a healthy work forest is the topic, and you may want to signup.  Ag tour coming up as well for young farmers, in fact the deadline is this weekend.  Great opportunity!  I-5 fatal at Goshen.  Boy that is a tough interchange with speeding vehicles coming in from Hwy 58 joining the I-5 traffic in two lanes.  Scary!  About as bad as trying to turn off of Newmark St./Ave. and getting run over by those supposedly going 35 mph.  It’s like Ocean Blvd. at the morning rush hour.  Some of those drivers hurrying to work can run you over.  Okay, that’s my two-cents after someone blasted their horn at me for turning yesterday.  Could be worse.  We’re lucky this is not Medford, Eugene, Salem or Portland traffic.  Ugh! DUII accident on Central Coast.  She actually called the police on herself.  Girlfriend allegedly pulls knife on boyfriend.  She went to jail. Warrant arrests near Bandon land two in jail.  In sports, prep schedules for both NBHS & MHS.  Soccer & volleyball on the dockets tonight.  SWOCC men tie Rogue in NWAC soccer.  And, Civil War time in Corvallis tonight as the Ducks invade Gill Coliseum to open Pac-12 play against the Beavers.  We’ll have scores tomorrow morning.  Have a great day and thank you for reading.   Matt
