Good Friday morning.  Happy November 1st!  I posted the November Coos County Cops.  On the main news page, click on “Publications” and you’ll see it.  How was your Halloween?  I need to check with my grandson to see if his candy is safe today.  He’s only in the Second Grade but he already has me figured out, I won’t see any of his stash.  Just as well, but it is fun to try.  No major problems reported by area police as far as Halloween.  Still get a kick out of the past in Springfield where a group of pranksters each Halloween would steal pumpkins off porches (not a good idea) and place all of them on the steps to City Hall.  Hundreds. They called themselves the PLO (Pumpkin Liberation Organization), and they always signed their effort with kind of a name, “Yes sir we are very fat”.  An innocent play on world affairs at the time.  Sunshine in the forecast through the weekend.  Warmer tomorrow than today.  Highs in the 60s and lows near 40.  Winds out of the Northeast and East, but not strong, just cold.   Remember to set your clock back an hour when you go to bed Saturday night, or you’ll be early to everything on Sunday.  Some great programs this weekend in the Bay Area.  How about the Beatles to start with?  The Fab Four featured at NBPL.  They are also doing an author program on Herbs.  Want to learn about the next trip to the Moon?  At SWOCC tonight.  If you are traveling to the Valley on Hwy. 126W, tree removal project underway between Veneta and Eugene.  ODFW’s annual fish & wildlife art show is set for Saturday in Dundee.  How about a nice hike on a nice cool day to Golden & Silver Falls, South Coast Striders headed that way Saturday.  You know that the commercial Dungeness Crab industry is tops among marine products from Oregon, but how does the industry rank with others?  You’d be surprised.  We have the list.  State of the Coast Conference is coming up Nov. 9th at Salishan, registration is underway.  A quake yesterday at the Southern Junction of the two fault lines that run parallel with the Oregon Coast.  Pilot Butte State Scenic Viewpoint master plan under review.  Nurses pleads guilty to pedaling Heroin.  Heroin bust in Douglas Co.  Marijuana extract bust in Lane Co.  Double fatal on Hwy. 18, boy that can be a deadly road.  It’s that same corridor.  Inmate death at the Coos Co. Jail.   CCSO has a missing person alert.  In sports, North Bend football has a big game in Eugene tonight.  Win and the Bulldogs are in the 5A playoffs.  Marshfield has to wait to find out who they play in the 4A after tonight’s games.  Pirate volleyball and boy’s soccer in playoffs on Saturday.  Marshfield’s cross country teams compete at District Thursday.   SWOCC VB team on the road.  Pac-12 women’s soccer results from last night not goof for the home teams in the Willamette Valley.  Pac-12 XC championships are at Monmouth this morning.  Pac-12 football & volleyball has the Ducks & Beavers out of state, but on the tube.  Seahawks home to Tampa Bay Sunday.  Busy weekend, have a great one and thank you for reading.  Don’t forget, when you get to the main news page, click on publications.  I posted the Coos County Cops tabloid today.  Twenty-pages of law enforcement reports with mug shots and more.     Matt
