This local news brief is brought to you by Southwest Oregon Regional Airport www.flyoth.com with air service from North Bend to San Francisco.

Good Friday morning to you.  Hopefully you had a great Thanksgiving Day with family and friends.  Still cold with highs in the 40s and lows in the 30s.  Sunshine today, clouds with a chance of rain on Saturday.  Today is “Black Friday” but it really isn’t the same as when it began.  The Internet has taken it down a great deal, but there are some good “deals” in some of the stores.  Well, it is fun to get into the Holiday shopping, spirit and times.  Don’t forget Shore Acres is up and running now through New Year’s Eve.  Coos Bay Downtown Association is kicking off their Holiday season with Santa’s arrival today and a movie.  South Coast Striders have a hike today to help those still thinking about that Turkey Dinner.  Parking is free today at State Parks.  At Shore Acres, get there before 3 p.m. to get in for free, otherwise, they will charge after dark.  Also, a free fishing weekend as well.  Brrrrrr.  Andy Charles presentation at NBPL.  Coos Bay School District has a vacancy on the School Budget Committee.    Oregon Farm Bureau weighs in on the Gray Wolf decision.   They are welcoming back chum salmon along the Columbia River with increased water flows from the dams.  The Mill Casino is having a Civil War event Saturday.  Sounds like some fun, but it is not all free, unless you like standing around.  Speaking about sports, high school football championship games on Saturday for five classifications.  Nothing going on locally with the Bulldogs and Pirates.  Oh that changes beginning next week when the “around the world” in sports tours begin.  Civil War volleyball tonight In Eugene, and Civil War football Saturday in Eugene.  The Ducks and Beavers have been playing some basketball, even on Thanksgiving Day.  Oregon men fell in overtime, everyone else won.  Seahawks are on the tube Monday night at home to Minnesota.  Stay warm and we’ll see you in December.  Okay, next Monday.  Thank you for reading, even on Thanksgiving Day, wow.        Matt
