This local news brief is brought to you by Southwest Oregon Regional Airport www.flyoth.com with air service from North Bend to San Francisco.

Good Thursday morning.  We are closing in on Christmas 2019.  Getting close to those “12 days of Christmas” time.  Clouds, rain, highs about the same as the lows, near 50, and winds out of the Southwest at 10-20 mph.  High Surf Advisory in effect along the South Coast through 7 p.m. Friday.  Basically, be smart while at the beach.  Probably not a good idea to go at high tide.  Now, it would be fun to go out before sunset to Shore Acres and catch the waves and then the Holiday Lights in the Garden.  Congressman Peter De Fazio has made his decision about whether or not to support the Jordan Cove Project.  We have more on the idea to turn the Elliott State Forest into a Research Forest.  OSU chips in with their ideas.  Old sewer line problem in Coos Bay forces a street closure and repairs on 5th St.  Night time delays expected next week on I-5 in the Roseburg area.  E911 Rate Increase coming Jan. 1st.  Volunteer Appreciation Party on Central Coast tonight for the Surfriders Organization.  We have some tips to hopefully make your holidays a little safer.  Enhanced DUII coverage on Central Coast over the holidays.  Young deer attacked and killed by dogs in Jacksonville.  The owner has stepped forward.  Two arrested for attempting to steal a bike in North Bend.  In sports prep schedules for today for both MHS and NBHS.  The Pirates have wrestling at home tonight at 6 p.m.  Lots of prep wrestling beginning Friday & Saturday at NBHS.  Lots of swimming as well beginning with MHS Friday and then all day Saturday at the NB Municipal Pool.  North Bend boys fall at Brookings-Harbor in basketball.  Prep wrestling polls are out for this week.  And, the Ducks lose their OC to UNLV.  Hope your Thursday is a great one and thank you for reading.      Matt
