Good Friday morning.  Hang on to your hats, and probably shouldn’t open that umbrella today.  Winds are howling along the Coast through today out of the South to Southwest 10-20 mph, gust possible to 40 mph.  Will continue into the night, but better this weekend.  Yes, just rain.  Highs in the low to mid 50s and lows in the upper 40s.  Only five more days until Christmas.  How’s the shopping going?  Don’t forget Shore Acres runs through New Year’s Eve.  Saw a great elementary school program at Madison Wednesday.  Nice job Principal Eli Ashton in his first year.  Lots of smiles.  I am sure it is that way at many holiday programs this year.  In our news, latest on the weather and roads.  Go to TripCheck from ODOT, your best, and current reports are there.  A quake hits the Southern End of the two fault lines off our Coast.  Holiday open house at NBPL today.  Want to do something fun?  Volunteer at the North Bend Visitor’s Center and be an ambassador for the Bay Area.  City of Coos Bay fined by the DEQ over Wastewater violations.  BACC accepting nominations for citizen and business of the year.  Banquet is next month.  ODOT is prepping for bridge work at Gold Beach.   Oregon youth graduate from a military type of academy in Central Oregon.  Unique program with benefits!   Safety conference next month in Central Oregon.  Fatal on Hwy. 99E.  Resisting arrest in Roseburg.  On the local police logs, arson arrest, warrant arrests, reports of people entering vehicles they don’t own, others entering houses they don’t live in, and counterfeit bills showing up in the Bay Area.  In sports, prep schedules for the PIrates and Bulldogs through the weekend.  South Coast Holiday Tourney continues through Saturday at MHS.  Local teams move into the championship semi-finals.  SWOCC basketball has success at crossover tourneys Thursday.  OSU women are on a tear.  Duck women play this weekend.  OSU and UO men in action as well, and the Seattle is at home to play Arizona on Sunday.  Hope you have a good seasonal weekend and thank you for reading.  If you like, feel free to forward on to others you feel might like to receive local news, sports for free Monday through Friday via  email box.        Matt
