Expect delays on Oregon 38 between Elkton and Drain for culvert replacement, July 11

Motorists on Oregon 38 (Umpqua Highway) should expect brief delays between Elkton and Drain the next two weeks as workers begin replacing a box culvert at Green Creek (milepost 42). Highway traffic will detour onto a  temporary one-lane bridge at Green Creek. Flaggers will provide 24-hour traffic control, and most delays at this location will be less than five minutes. Motorists are advised to watch for construction signs and drive with caution through the work zone. Due to construction elsewhere, motorists traveling Oregon 38 between Interstate 5 and Reedsport this summer should expect to encounter several work zones with delays at each location. The Green Creek culvert replacement is part of a larger project that replaces four large culverts, builds two bridges, and replaces almost 30 small culverts along Oregon 38. The new bridges and culverts will improve fish passage and drainage along the highway. For more information, contact Dan Latham, ODOT Public Affairs, at 541-957-3601 or Dan.LATHAM@odot.state.or.us.
