Expect I-5 delays in north Douglas County on Thursday and Sunday, Feb. 12

ODOT release – Interstate 5 motorists traveling between Cottage Grove and Oakland should plan for delays this coming week due to tree removal work. Rolling slowdowns may delay traffic up to 20 minutes from 7 a.m. to noon on Thursday, Feb. 13. Additional slowdowns are scheduled from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 16. Flaggers will briefly hold vehicles at the northbound Elkhead Road (Exit 154) on-ramp, and at all southbound on-ramps from Curtin (Exit 163) to Elk Creek/Cox Road (Exit 159). Roadside message boards will be in place to warn motorists of the upcoming work. This work is part of a larger three-month project to remove hazard trees and slide material along I-5 between Sutherlin and Cottage Grove. Hazard trees are those at high risk of falling and blocking travel lanes during high wind or heavy snow events.
