Fake Suicide, May 2

A male who was reported to be sitting on the McCullough Bridge railing at North Bend Saturday, April 29, allegedly indicated in a “live streaming video conversation with his girlfriend,” that he might have jumped.  According to a news release from NBPD, “when the caller heard the male screaming and then the video cut out,” police were notified about 8:54 p.m.  Officers from NBPD, CCSO, North Bend Fire & Rescue, Bay Cities Ambulance and the U.S. Coast Guard responded to the area and provide a search or aid.  “After several hours of searching, only a cell phone was located on the sandy shores of the bay.  It was determined more likely than not, the male did not in fact jump from the bridge.”  A statewide bulletin was issued in an effort to locate the male.  Eugene PD found him safe and unharmed at his residence.
