No one was injured, including the Black Bear that fell from an embankment late Aug. 3 in Northern California, crushing a Humboldt Co. Sheriff’s vehicle and destroying it . The incident occurred about 11 p.m. when a Deputy Sheriff responded to a possible drug overdose call. En route on Hwy. 96, a bear suddenly fell on the passing vehicle causing it to swerve, strike an embankment, rollover, where it caught fire. The deputy was able to get out safely and the Bear, fled the scene.
