Family Fishing event featured during Family Fun Day, April 17

A Family Fishing event is set for 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Saturday, April 18 at Middle Empire Lake near Southwestern Oregon Community College. The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife partners with the Bay Area Hospital’s Kids Hope Center to host the event which is part of Coos Bay’s annual Family Fun Day. Families learn about fishing by completing a clinic then kids can fish an enclosure in the lake that is stocked with 6,000 rainbow trout. ODFW provides loaner rods and reels, tackle and fun prizes. Children 13 and under can fish for free, kids 14 to 17 and adults need an Oregon angling license to fish. All state fishing regulations continue to apply.
