Family Fishing Event set for Middle Empire Lakes, April 4

A Family Fishing Event is set for Saturday, April 5 at Middle Empire Lake located near Southwestern Oregon Community college. The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife is partnering with the Child Advocacy Center to host the event which is part of the annual “Family Fun Day.”  The event features a clinic where families learn about fishing.  Once completing the clinic, kids can fish from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. in an enclosure in the lake that will be stocked with 6,000 rainbow trout.  “This is one of the best community events of the year,” said Tom Rumreich, ODFW STEP biologist. “There’s fishing, fun and many giveaways.”  Anglers aged 14-17 years need a $9 juvenile angling license while those 13 and under can fish for free. Licenses can be purchased online at http://www.dfw.state.or.us/online_license_sales/index.asp  or at any ODFW office or license outlet.
