A Coos Co. Sheriff’s deputy was killed in an ATV accident Monday, April 20, while on routine patrol in a rural portion of the county. District Attorney R. Paul Frasier said 43-year old Deputy Gil Datan died sometime after 2:00 PM, and that the Oregon State Police are in charge of the investigation. “We are working on determining the details of what occurred yesterday afternoon. I am hoping to be able to release more information regarding this tragic event later today.”
